Formation is the process by which what we believe becomes part of who we are.
Knowing that Shabbat is biblical is information. Learning to stop, trust God, bless your household, welcome people, and receive rest is formation.
Knowing that Yeshua teaches forgiveness is information. Becoming a person capable of forgiving is formation.
Knowing that Scripture commands care for the stranger is information. Opening your table and making room for another person is formation.
Lyell is interested not only in what we know, but in what our beliefs are producing in us. Study should eventually become character, habit, relationship, and faithful practice.
