Many people came into Hebrew Roots because they wanted something good. They wanted Scripture taken seriously. They wanted to honor Shabbat, appreciate the feasts, recover the Jewish setting of the faith, and follow Yeshua more carefully. I understand that desire. In many ways, I share it.
But a movement can begin with a right desire and still embrace serious errors.
That is the burden behind this series.
Some errors are historical. People repeat claims about Christmas, Easter, Nimrod, Semiramis, the cross, the sacred name, or the calendar without proving those claims. Other errors are theological. Some confuse Jewish and Gentile callings. Some make Torah observance a condition of salvation. Some reject Paul. Some assume that disagreeing with their interpretation is the same as rebelling against God.
That is a dangerous path.
Scripture calls us to something better.
๐๐ฐ๐๐ ๐ญ๐ณ:๐ญ๐ญ praises the Bereans because they โreceived the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were soโ (NKJV).
Notice that carefully. They did not reject teaching automatically, but they did not accept it blindly either. They tested it.
That is what we must do.
๐๐ฒ๐๐. ๐ฐ:๐ฎ says, โYou shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it.โ
When we turn our traditions, reconstructions, suspicions, and preferred explanations into binding law, we are in danger of adding to God's Word. When we dismiss what Scripture actually teaches because it does not fit our system, we are in danger of taking from it.
๐๐ฐ๐๐ ๐ญ๐ฑ is also essential. The apostles had to answer a difficult question about Gentiles, Torah, and belonging among the people of God. Their answer did not erase Torah, but it also did not require Gentiles to become Jews in order to be saved. That chapter still guards us from confusion.
Paul says in ๐ฅ๐ผ๐บ. ๐ญ๐ญ:๐ญ๐ณโ๐ญ๐ด that Gentiles are grafted in, but he warns them not to boast against the natural branches.
That means Gentile believers are welcomed into the rich root of Israel's promises, but they do not replace the Jewish people or become Jews by imitation.
๐๐ฝ๐ต. ๐ฎ:๐ญ๐ญโ๐ญ๐ต teaches that Gentiles who were once far off have been brought near through Messiah.
And ๐ญ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ. ๐ณ:๐ญ๐ณโ๐ฎ๐ฌ shows that calling still matters. Jews remain Jews. Gentiles remain Gentiles. Unity is not sameness.
This series is not written to attack everyone in Hebrew Roots. Not everything in the movement is false. Some concerns are valid. Some corrections are needed in wider Christianity.
But truth requires humility. It requires evidence. It requires a willingness to say, โI was wrong.โ
That is the real issue.
If we are going to be Torah Pursuant, then we must pursue truth as seriously as we pursue commandments. We must love the Jewish people, welcome the nations, honor Yeshua, and handle Scripture carefully.
