Mitzvot Yeshua
Section 3
Worship & Prayer
Yeshua taught His disciples that worship is more than ritual and prayer is more than words. He called for hearts turned fully toward the Father, free from hypocrisy and empty show. His mitzvot on worship and prayer root us in Torah yet lift us into the life of the Spirit — a life where every breath, every act of giving, every whispered prayer becomes an offering of love.
29. Worship the Father in spirit and truth
-
Scripture: John 4:23–24
-
Torah Link: Deut 6:5 (love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and strength).
-
Application: Approach God sincerely, not just with outward form. Worship Him from the depths of your heart, grounded in His truth.
30. Pray without ceasing and do not lose heart
-
Scripture: Luke 18:1; 1 Thess 5:17
-
Torah Link: Ps 55:17 (David prayed evening, morning, and at noon).
-
Application: Build prayer into the rhythm of your day. Whisper prayers as you walk, work, and rest.
31. Pray in secret, not to be seen by men
-
Scripture: Matt 6:5–6
-
Torah Link: 1 Sam 1:13 (Hannah prayed silently before the Lord).
-
Application: Set aside quiet moments alone with God. Seek His face, not human praise.
32. Pray as I taught you: “Our Father in heaven…”
-
Scripture: Matt 6:9–13
-
Torah Link: Exod 16 (daily bread); Lev 19:2 (God’s holiness); Jer 31:34 (forgiveness).
-
Application: Use the Lord’s Prayer as a model, not a formula. Let it shape the themes of your prayers: God’s glory, His Kingdom, daily needs, forgiveness, and deliverance.
33. Do not use vain repetitions in prayer
-
Scripture: Matt 6:7
-
Torah Link: Eccl 5:2 (let your words be few before God).
-
Application: Speak honestly and directly to God. Avoid empty words meant to impress.
34. Ask, seek, knock — and you will receive
-
Scripture: Matt 7:7–11
-
Torah Link: Jer 29:13 (you will seek Me and find Me when you search with all your heart).
-
Application: Bring your needs before God persistently. Expect Him to respond as a loving Father.
35. Watch and pray to avoid temptation
-
Scripture: Matt 26:41
-
Torah Link: Gen 4:7 (sin crouches at the door, but you must master it).
-
Application: Stay alert to weakness. Use prayer as armor in moments of testing.
36. Forgive when you stand praying
-
Scripture: Mark 11:25
-
Torah Link: Lev 19:18 (do not bear a grudge).
-
Application: Pause in prayer to release grudges. Let forgiveness flow before continuing in worship.
37. Fast without outward show
-
Scripture: Matt 6:16–18
-
Torah Link: Isa 58:6–7 (the fast God chooses: to loose bonds of wickedness, share bread with the hungry).
-
Application: Fast privately as an act of devotion, not performance. Let fasting lead you to compassion.
38. Give to God what belongs to Him
-
Scripture: Matt 22:21
-
Torah Link: Deut 14:22 (set aside a tithe for the Lord).
-
Application: Honor God with firstfruits of income, time, and devotion. Keep Him above worldly allegiances.
39. Do not practice righteousness to be seen by others
-
Scripture: Matt 6:1
-
Torah Link: Zech 7:5–6 (was it really for Me that you fasted?).
-
Application: Let giving, fasting, and serving flow from love for God, not a desire for recognition.
40. Give secretly so your Father rewards you
-
Scripture: Matt 6:3–4
-
Torah Link: Deut 15:7–11 (give generously to the poor without a grudging heart).
-
Application: Look for opportunities to bless quietly. Keep generosity hidden except from God.
41. Remember that Shabbat was made for man, not man for Shabbat
-
Scripture: Mark 2:27–28
-
Torah Link: Exod 20:8–11 (remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy).
-
Application: Keep Shabbat as a gift, not a burden. Use it to rest, delight in God, and bring life to others.
Mitzvot Yeshua
Prayer and worship draw us close to the Father, but Yeshua never intended faith to be lived in isolation. He formed a community of disciples who learned, served, and suffered together. The next section turns from the secret place of prayer to the shared life of fellowship — where love becomes visible, leaders serve humbly, and disciples are made in every nation.
