Lyell Seminary
A Seminary for Torah-Pursuant Scholars and Shepherds
Feel free to look around - we are under construction. Most buttons may not work.
A new kind of seminary.
Rooted in תּוֹרָה / Torah.
Shaped by intimate walk with the Father.
Serious about scholarship. Serious about the soul.
Welcome
Lyell Seminary exists for men and women who hunger for more than clever arguments or polished sermons.
We train leaders who love the Father with heart, soul, mind, and strength. We invite them into a slow, deep path. We ask them to walk in obedience to תּוֹרָה / Torah. We expect them to grow as scholars who can write, teach, and guide others with care.
This is not a broad program.
This is a small, focused seminary for those who are ready to be changed.
What Makes Lyell Different
1. Formation Before Performance
We care about who you are before we care about what you produce. Every student and every faculty member walks under an Individual Encounter Plan (IEP) that centers on intimacy with the Father, honest self-examination, and Torah-shaped habits.
2. Torah-Pursuant Life
We honor the whole of Scripture. We call our community to live as Torah-pursuant disciples of Yeshua. We do not chase novelty. We seek faithfulness. Shabbat, holy speech, compassion, justice, generosity, and integrity stand at the core of our culture.
3. Serious Scholarship
Lyell trains thinkers who can stand in any room. We expect careful exegesis, strong writing, and engagement with serious academic work. Our aim is not noise on social media. Our aim is real contribution to the Torah-pursuant and wider academic world.
4. Small by Design
Our entrance requirements remain high on purpose. We would rather walk closely with a few who want depth, than manage a crowd that wants a brand.
The Three Pillars of Lyell Seminary
Formation
Every student receives an IEP that follows a year-long arc. The arc includes resistance, breakthrough, and integration. Mentors walk with each student through monthly conversations. The focus stays on the inner life, not on performance.
Torah
We teach Torah as a gift, not a burden. We help students and faculty learn how Torah shapes speech, money, rest, relationships, and study. We seek joy in obedience. We do not treat Torah as an idea. We treat it as the path of wisdom.
Scholarship
We call faculty and students to write at a level that can serve serious readers. We point toward conference papers, society meetings, and peer engagement. We ask for careful thought and clear words. We expect honest use of sources and integrity with AI.
